Memorial Day 2011

As we relax and enjoy this day off for Memorial Day, most do so with out giving thought of the purpose of this day. This is a day to commemorate those who have served and died to protect our freedom and our way of life. There is a great quote about these men and women "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends". Some served because they had to, but most served because they wanted to. This is what we are memorializing - love of country, love of our countrymen, love for those yet born into this great country. Even though I know all say "Happy Memorial Day" out of good intentions, it is really a solemn occasion. We should take time and reflect what this country, and our lives would be like had these men and women had not made the decision to stand in the gap against the likes of Hitler, Mussolini, Hirohito, Bin Laden and so many others that wanted to exercise their tyranny over our freedom. So give thanks for their sacrifice! For their sacrifice was for you.

Thank You for our freedom!

Man waits for bus in downtown PDX. What's with the box of office supplies? Did he just get canned?
